Last year, former DPW Superintendent Scott Bartlett was arrested and charged for allegedly accepting kickbacks to allow illegal dumping by Julian Enterprises co-owner Jason Julian that led to the testing and remediation of multiple parks and fields in Fairfield.
That was just the beginning of Bartlett’s trouble with the law.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, investigators from the Fairfield Police Department arrested Bartlett, 58, who was charged with first-degree larceny and two counts of second-degree larceny.
The arrest came following an “extensive investigation” that focused on Bartlett’s illegal use and misappropriation of funds from the bank account of a mentally challenged individual whom Bartlett had conservatorship over.
Police said that investigators developed probable cause to believe that Bartlett misused this account by co-mingling funds and making illegal withdrawals for his own personal use.
Bartlett turned himself into the Fairfield Police Department without incident and was released on a $35,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Monday, Feb. 10.
